Description

Why Alpacas?

We wanted to find a way to connect with people who wanted to learn about farming and the countryside, but we also wanted to find a way to make it fun and memorable for our guests. We needed charismatic tour guides. Alpacas seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Cute, cuddly, inquisitive, they make perfect companions for a stroll through our meadows.

Alpaca Trekking

Alpaca trekking takes place year-round at Jeans Family Farm. Our tours last around 1 hour including an interactive demonstration on how to safely handle your alpaca and time afterwards for photographs etc. The route varies throughout the season but expect to be walking through fields and woodland. Sturdy, waterproof shoes are essential, wellies/walking boots are ideal. Don’t forget to dress for the weather!

Fancy a picnic?

We have a lovely picnic area in our cherry orchard and guests are welcome to spend time there after their trek. Bring your own picnic at no extra cost

How fit and mobile do you need to be?

You do not need to be super fit to trek with alpacas, they walk at a slow pace and we stop regularly for snacks and selfies! If you can go for a 45 min walk at a slow pace you will be just fine on our treks. The ground can be uneven and sometimes slippery so people with limited mobility need to take care. If anyone in your group has any additional needs, please get in touch with us via email and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.

How does Alpaca Trekking work for children?

Children of all ages are welcome on our alpaca treks. Kids under the age of 12 need to share an alpaca with an adult. You get a lead each, so kids get the full experience.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately, dogs (with the exception of guide dogs) are not permitted on treks or in the picnic area. Our parking area is well shaded, but dogs left in cars are entirely at the owners discretion/risk.
